CAS Formed Own Broker/Dealer Unit

In a similar move, an actual broker-dealer unit has been formed in New England. Named the Connecticut Association Securities, it was created by the Banks Association of Connecticut, now merged with the Connecticut Bankers Association.

The new securities organization will recruit its own salespeople, but the employees/brokers will be licensed and work for both the Connecticut Association Securities and the 95 financial institutions where they are stationed.

Robert Brawders, formerly of Mechanics Savings Bank in Hartford, is president of the brokerage. He told BANKERS' HOTLINE that they expect to be up and running by September 1. Mr. Brawders is also very willing to talk to anyone who is interested in their method of offering investment opportunities to banking customers. Like Mr. Williston in Texas, he says the detail is "almost overwhelming" in scope. Robert Brawders can be reached at (203) 527-5161.
