Grocery stores and supermarkets in North Carolina have joined stores in the states of Washington, California, Tennessee, and Virginia in installing a wireless credit card authorization system. Customers can now have the option of paying for groceries with a credit card or a debit card.
RAM Mobile Data, the maker of the system, says authorizations are received up to three times faster than by dial-up methods, resulting in faster checkout lines.
