New CTR… Finally!

Draft copy included for your comment

The Task Force that has been working on the new Currency Transaction Form (CTR-Form 4789) has finally come out with a draft of the new form. The group, which has accepted the responsibility of reviewing all forms subject to the Bank Secrecy Act, is made up of members of law enforcement, government agencies, and bankers. The Bank Advisory members contributed a great deal to the creation of the new 4789. Introduced at October's American Bankers Association/American Bar Association Money Laundering Conference, the form really is shorter!

We were given a copy of the draft of the new form by the Office of Financial Enforcement (OFE). We have included it (for you to examine and critique) on page four in this issue of your HOTLINE. (Just the form itself is included-no instruction pages are available yet.) Peter Djinis, Director of OFE, said they would welcome all comments on the new form before it is made final. Details are on pages 4 and 5 of this issue. Maybe 1995 will be the year we finally get the new Criminal Referral Form too!
