"We're Here For Them"

David Wills, president and chief executive officer of the Pendleton Federal Savings Bank in Falmouth, Kentucky, grabbed the computer hard drives and jumped into his pickup truck, driving away just before five feet of flood water washed through the bank. The water ruined all furniture, walls, floors, and several computers.

His alternate bank location also being under water, they've now set up temporary headquarters less than a mile away in a rented office. Their location is marked with a black and white hand painted sign on a piece of plywood.

His message to other bankers? "Make sure you have backups on high ground!"

But ask him if he has good people. Three days after the flood, using his cellular telephone to contact FEMA about low-interest loans, Pendleton was back in business.

Mr. Wills said some folks drop in to visit because they "…just want to know that we're here for them."
