Nationsbank On Top With Small Business
Twenty thousand (20,000) Small Business Loan applications a month are now received through Nationsbank branches, telephone call centers and business bankers. Last year only about 6,600 small business apps were being handled.
The difference is that the applications can be filled out at desktop computers instead of on paper, enabling them to get the information in, and make most loan decisions within 48 hours.
The bank also made small business loan applications available through the Internet on April 27, this year, and on the first day had 3 applications.
NationsBank, based in Charlotte, NC, was the number one small business lender in the country last year. Wells Fargo & Co., San Francisco, was second, and Banc One Corp., Columbus, Ohio was third, According to Sheshunoff Information Services.
