Republic National Bank of New York jointly funds and helps to operate a training program with the New York City Department of Employment that trains welfare recipients for work with Time Warner Cable.
The Welfare-to-Work program saw the first 15 graduates join the rolls of Time Warner at the end of August. Fourteen of them began a six-week paid customer service training program and the other one was enrolled in a class to learn how to become a field technician. Before joining the cable company, they received five weeks of training in classes such as communications and employability skills and job search strategies.
During September and November, another 30 will go through training and join the company.
