They're Number One

Banking employees enjoy free banking services and, in some cases, stock options and other benefits. Synovus Financial, however, has gone the extra mile. Individual bricks will carry more than 3,000 employees' names at Synovus' newest $100 million facility.

According to a FORTUNE magazine report, Synovus employees say it has "culture of the heart". FORTUNE picked Synovus Financial as Number One on its annual list of "100 Best Companies to Work for in America."

MBNA was number 9 on the list, and First Tennessee Bank number 14.
