Social Security Tax Refund Scam

If your older customers tell you they're getting a refund of Social Security tax, listen closely to what they say. They may be a victim of a nasty scam. Over 1,000 claims totaling $95 million have already been blocked by IRS this year. Phony advice and service is offered by charging $100 upfront and then getting unsuspecting people to fill out Form 1041 (usually used by estates and trusts). If you hear of such an offer, call IRS at (800) 829-0433.
