Protecting Information
Bank of America has responded to consumer concerns about privacy by announcing two steps it will take to protect customers' privacy. The bank announced in a press release that it will not share any customer information with third-party marketers who offer their products and services to Bank of America customers. It also said it will not allow third-party telemarketers to call its customers offering products unless those products are directly related to financial needs.
The press release distinguished between third-party marketers and outside agents such as check printers and data processors that act as agents for the bank and operate under confidentiality agreements.
