Boosting the Feminine Business Community

According to the National Foundation for Women Business Owners, the number of women-owned businesses in the U.S. has more than doubled during the past decade.

Silicon Valley Bank was one of the supporters of an event in the Mid-Atlantic area designed to be a launch pad for women entrepreneurs.

"Springboard 2000: Mid-Atlantic" was held this summer and was designed to accelerate investments in high-growth businesses run by women. It brought together female entrepreneurs and potential investors. In particular, about 25 women seeking early and later stage funding were showcased, and about 15 women-led businesses had the opportunity to present their plans to potential investors. The Mid-Atlantic event followed a similar successful one held in Silicon Valley.
