Counterfeit Currency Alert: Check the Watermark
We have had a report that excellent counterfeit currency has been showing up again. This time the quality feels like a genuine piece of currency - because it was. The perpetrators have taken five dollar bills, bleached them out, and reprinted over them - converting them to $100 denominations. The strip, which is difficult to read, is incorrect. But the easier way to detect the counterfeit is still in the watermark. Benjamin Franklin's picture appears on the bill, but when held up to the light, you will see Abraham Lincoln's likeness in the watermark. Don't go by the "feel" of the currency. Unfortunately, it feels genuine. Check the watermark.
