Banks in even the smallest of communities have products available to bring back office and teller functions into the 21st century. Such is the case with PeoplesBank in central Pennsylvania. The $350-million-asset bank recognized that even though it was located in a community where horse-drawn carriages can still be found, it needed modernization. It is in the middle of a four-year, $1 million program to capture a leading banking position in its community through technologies and Internet access. The bank recently completed one of the most important phases: it installed a system wide branch automation system that allows tellers access to account information that can help them service customers and collect information for marketing. The installation and training took only five weeks.
