Storage of Large Items in the Safe Deposit Box
Question: We have a safe deposit customer who has a box too big for our safe deposit box bin. She wants to put it just in the vault area behind the locked door itself without using the liner. Do you think it's OK to do that? The box she wants to put in is just a touch too large for the liner in our largest box, but it will fit inside the vault without the bin.
Answer: We couldn't see any reason to stop your customer from doing that, and your conversation with your vault people indicated the use of the liner could be optional, with no loss of security. It seems to us that your biggest problem will be locating the liner if you want to rent the box out after this renter leaves. Better note on the signature card where you're storing the liner!
