Don't Be Too Generous
Arthur Goulette gave a teller a demand note at another Bank of America branch, this time in Burgaw, North Carolina, that said he had a weapon.
After leaving the bank with the money, he went directly to the neighborhood bar, where he evidently decided to treat all who were drinking with him at a nearby bar.
Spending $100 bills and "tipping well" aroused the suspicions of the bartender, who had by this time heard the description of the bank robber.
She called the police, who tracked him to a nearby house where he had broken in and was in the process of robbing the house while the residents were asleep!
They caught him, and also recovered the bag of money - minus a few hundred dollars.
