New Level of Smart Card Protection
Banks in the U.S. may want to look overseas for what's happening in the smart card industry because developments there are bound to make it to this country's shores.
For example, a partnership between Malaysia's Public Bank, ORGA (a smart card company) and Perfect Plastic Printing resulted in the first color-shift smart card in Asia. The card has a translucent plastic cover and when you tilt it at certain angles, the colors change, which makes it tough to counterfeit. The card uses the MasterCard M/Chip smart card platform, which offers members the capability of creating value-added opportunities for different customer groups.
