Coalition Will Fight Online Fraud
The Information Technology Association of America announced recently that it would help create the Coalition on Online Identity Theft, a group of Internet retailers, security companies, and related parties that will ally themselves with each other in a battle against fraud on the Web.
Among the initial members is Visa U.S.A. Other giant members include e-Bay, Amazon, and Microsoft. The group's goals are to educate consumers about ways to combat online identity theft and to serve as a forum for discussion among technology providers about new defenses. It will also serve as a lobbying tool for creating government support in pursuing thieves. For information, go to www.itaa.org.
