Sliding Doors & Security
Question: One of our directors travels in a wheel chair, and has suggested that we think of installing an automatic opening door. Can you tell me if you know of any in financial institutions, and what problems such a door might cause?
Answer: I went to a security expert on this, and neither Ken Smiley or I could come up with a good reason to object to an automatic sliding door, such as you describe. There are some already in use, especially in business building locations. If your door opens from the street, a problem could arise in case of loss of power, or malfunction, but that could be addressed by your maintenance and security folks.
