Managing Campaign Monies Online
A small community bank has established a niche for itself by developing a program for political candidates to accept contributions online. Calnet Business Bank, Sacramento, California was asked to develop the program for the Schwarzenegger campaign on a very tight schedule. Larger banks told the campaign that such a program would take weeks, but Calnet, which has just 30 employees, developed the program over a 24-hour period. It included not only a way to accept contributions, but time-saving features to cut by half the work done by the campaign's treasurer. Since then, the bank has been approached by a number of other candidates for office.
