Preparing Students For The 'Outside'
Bank One, Detroit, Michigan, recently ran a school program that gave graduating seniors life lessons as well as lump sums of scholarship monies. At the same time, the program gave the bank's own employees management experience. The bank gave $11,500 to local high school students at a June graduation ceremony. Those that received awards went through a bank-created academy program. Twice monthly from October 2003 to May of this year, the students met with Bank One employee mentors to learn career and life skills. The students collected points for tasks, and top-scoring students received additional awards.
