A Commitment to Ecology

ShoreBank Pacific illustrated its commitment to sustainability of industries indigenous to the Pacific Northwest by creating a credit card that benefits the Salmon Nation. The Salmon Nation is an initiative run by Ecotrust that raises awareness of issues and behavioral choices that contribute to the health of regional watersheds and the economies of the people who depend on those watersheds. ShoreBank is contributing 50 percent of the income it generates through the Salmon Nation Visa. Salmon Nation, which was formed last fall, has 3,500 members. ShoreBank has other products designed to help local ecologies and economies including a Certificate of Deposit that allows consumers to donate their interest to participating non-profit organizations.
