Tithing in the 21st Century
The collection plates for churches just got a new friend: Two companies that have helped churches transition to the modern age have joined forces to create a product that offers religious organizations a better way to collect donations and churchgoers and other donors a better way to track what they've given.
ParishPay, which has created direct payment systems software for churches, and Parish Data System, Inc., a manufacturer of software for running churches, have joined forces to create a new product that incorporates cash-giving with automatic payment of donations. The software allows churches to process recurring payments directly out of parishioners' checking accounts or credit cards.
It also allows church administrators to enter cash donations given onsite and incorporate all the data together so that a church knows who gives what and the churchgoer knows exactly what they've donated, a useful number at tax time. The program outputs personalized letters, tax receipts, financial analyses, billing statements, year-end tax statements and other reports.
