Second Layer of Password Protection by Barbara Hurst, BOL GuruGuru Bios
A credit union in Texas has added a second layer of protection to its user/password authentication for laptop use - a biometric technology that doesn't use a body part for recognition. San Antonio City Employees Federal Credit Union is using a software tool that recognizes the keystroke speed and rhythm of a person's typing. The software application by BioNet Systems requires no hardware so it can be integrated into an existing company system with minimal effort by system administrators.
Once it's installed, employees create their biometric keystroke pattern themselves by entering a company-provided password. They then can access information only by knowing matching user and passwords and by having the right touch in entering the password. The system is invisible to employees once they are signed up.
