Paul Callahan passed his holdup note to the employee at the counter, who looked puzzled, and then explained that he was in a Boston University copy shop. No money. Just copies. Callahan, realizing his mistake, then asked the employee for directions to the nearest Fleet bank branch.
He finally did manage to find Fleet - and robbed the branch but only got $200. He tried again, this time a Citizen's Bank - but was given a dye pack which exploded inside his truck.
And then he got a flat tire.
They found him at a gas station, covered in red dye, trying to call the police to report his truck stolen so it would appear someone else had robbed the banks. However, he was pretty easy to identify and arrest.
