Credit Unions Offering ID Theft Solution
Several credit unions recently announced partnerships with Identity Theft 911, an organization that offers a comprehensive solution to identity theft. The credit unions will offer the services free to their members.
The Identity Theft 911 provides victims a personal advocate to work with them until the crisis is solved; notification of the theft to agencies, businesses, and financial institutions; a comprehensive case file for insurance and law enforcement; and a year of follow-up alerts, phone calls, and status checks to avoid recurrence. A consumer education component also offers members ongoing e-mail scam alerts, a monthly newsletter and a dedicated web site with articles, interviews and white papers covering identity theft.
The credit unions include the Los Angeles Police Federal Credit Union; the Monterey Credit Union, Monterey, CA; and the New England Credit Union, Williston, VT.
