Grandpa Gang Convicted
Three men who robbed 14 banks in Germany, taking over $1.23 million over the past 16 years have been sentenced to jail. The men, who are 64, 73 and 74 years old sometimes used guns dating back to World War II. During the trial, Wilfried Ackermann, the 73 year old said, "It's unbelievable how easy it is to rob a bank once you've done it a couple of times."
The three were arrested in the parking lot of a bank where they were preparing yet another heist. The oldest, Rudolf Richter, will be 84 by the time he gets out of prison.
They spent carefully and wisely. Most of the money has been recovered.
