Identification in Motion
A technology company in New Jersey recently announced release of a biometric tool that uses iris recognition - but allows the recognition to occur as people are walking through a portal.
Sarnoff Corporation says its Iris on the Move product can read up to 20 subjects in a minute and that those subjects don't have to stop and put their eye up to a reader. They are only required to walk through a machine with their eyes open and their heads held up and forward, and in some cases, without their glasses.
The machines read at distances of up to three meters from the imaging system and the portal defaults read people from 5'3" to 6'3", but can be configured for other sizes and for accessibility requirements.
