Question & Answer

Question: We are working on a web page to run on the internet. Are there any compliance issues we should be concerned about?

Answer: Regulations do not yet provide explicit rules for promotion and advertising on the 'net. However, general compliance requirements do apply to any advertisement or transaction that is conducted on the internet. For example, any web page ads should comply with appropriate regulations, such as Truth in Lending and Truth in Savings. Also, the web page should comply with fair lending requirements, such as including representative minorities in visual ads, and avoiding exclusionary statements or messages. You can't use cyberspace to do what is prohibited in more traditional techniques.
