Question & Answer
Question: We are looking for automated training materials. Do you have any advice?
Answer: There are several automated training products available, however, ComplianceAction has not reviewed them and does not have any specific recommendations. We do, however, have a bit of advice.
Automated training can be useful for teaching basic rules. It is not well suited to teaching the "spirit of the law" or bank culture. For this, you really need a more personal approach. Depending on the programs and your resources, it may be effective to use a combination of automated and personal training.
Automated training is most effective in banks that have specific, well-defined products with little latitude for loan officers and customer service representatives to adjust products. Generally, this is the case in larger banks but not small banks. If you have fixed products, review any automated training programs carefully to be sure that they train on the topics you need. Only purchase after reviewing the product to be sure that it meets your training needs.
