Free CRA Resources
From one examination cycle to the next, it can be difficult to know how to evaluate your bank's performance. When that project lands on the "To Do" list, it can be very profitable to take a cruise on the Internet. Although vendors will sell you fancy programs at an elitist price, the government is busy giving away information for free.
For example, there is lots of free information and advice on the Web pages of your regulatory agencies. All of the bank regulatory agencies have Websites. These Internet sources have information about examination schedules, examination ratings, CRA interpretive letters, and lots more.
But that's not all. The Federal Reserve System's banks have Websites that include not only policy advice and examination results, but also information about communities in their region. Some FRBanks have a performance context analysis of a city or two. Eventually they hope to have a complete set. Check the Federal Reserve's Website at http://www.bog.frb.fed.us. Then use the links to each of the twelve Federal Reserve Banks.
