Question: How can I make special audit sheets on my PC?

Answer: You no longer need special desktop publishing software or a forms program to help you here. In your spreadsheet you can easily design forms that require more of a table structure than formatted text. And if you need more text attributes, use your word processor.

With tables and user-defined styles in your word processor you can define text styles and check boxes or explanation areas where you can mark the audit item as compliant, not compliant, questionable, not applicable or answers the question in a narrative.

Here is a sample of the first question under the Credit Practices audit for the OCC workpapers. Using your examiner's questionnaires in this manner allows customization. You won't need to retype their entire questionnaires. It may be available electronically from their web site, on a CD of regulatory information or even directly from your examiner.

Credit Practices Rule
This worksheet can be used to test the adequacy of the work completed by the compliance officer and/or to conduct an independent test using a sample chosen by the examiner. Answer the following questions with a "Yes" or a "No." Every "Yes" answer indicates a violation of law or an internal deficiency and must be explained fully in the work papers.

  Yes No
