New Year's Resolutions: Resolutions We Wish Others Would Make
At this time of year, we are called upon to make resolutions directed at self improvement. When thinking about how to improve ourselves and our situations, it is tempting to think about how others could make our lives better. When it comes to compliance, here are some resolutions that we wish others would make (and keep).
- CEOs resolve to give adequate funding and open support to compliance in order to get the job done right.
- Officials at HUD recognize that they are way off base with thinking about changes to the Good Faith Estimate and resolve to shut down the process and make no changes.
- Examiners secretly resolve to recognize that CRA involves process and well as results and to give a little credit for effort.
- Commercial Loan Officers resolve to attend compliance training.
- Commercial Loan Officers see the light at compliance training and resolve never to request signatures of an applicant's spouse simply because the spouse is there.
- Someone at HUD resolves to make HUD's website a better place and adds home shopping information and resources - including GFE information.
- Examiners resolve to understand the pressures on bankers - and bankers resolve to understand the pressures on examiners.
- Members of Congress will make it through an election year without passing any more compliance legislation. We can dream, can't we?
