FTC Raises Cost of Credit Reports
The FCRA directs the Federal Trade Commission to establish a ceiling on the price that credit bureaus may charge to consumers for a copy of their credit report. The charge is only applicable for credit reports that are requested in addition to the free report to which each consumer now has a right. For the year 2005 the cost limit is $9.50, up by 50¢ from the previous year.
