` BSA Top Gun Conference - About the Event
A Practical, Hands-On Learning Experience

DO YOU KNOW. . .

When you have classified all your accounts, you may not have any that are "high risk."
You should have a list of your Non Resident Alien customers for monitoring.
There is no list of Politically Exposed Persons, but you should identify them. One of the best ways to identify a PEP is to ask the customer.
The board is not required to have copies of SARs. They can receive a summary report, or even delegate a committee for SAR reviews.
Continuing suspicious activity triggers subsequent SARs, but filing within each 90 day period will be sufficient reporting.
A vendor you outsourced work to is an "insider" for SAR reporting.
Reporting suspected tax evasion on a SAR is a voluntary report on the part of the bank.
There is no requirement that a check casher charge a fee to be an MSB.
"Closed" stored value cards may be used in limited places, as in one particular store or chain of stores. These pose fewer BSA risks than cards accepted almost universally such as where MasterCard or Visa cards are accepted.
You will want to monitor MSB customer compliance with all applicable state and federal registration and licensure requirements.
If you have an MSB customer, as a part of your review you may request their CTRs.
Dear Banker:

Since BankersOnline.com was launched in late 2000, its goal has been to inform and educate bankers and provide an opportunity for banking professionals to network online. We're now carrying forward that mission beyond the Internet with the introduction of the BankersOnline Bank Secrecy Act Top Gun Conference, a real-world conference for bankers with responsibilities in the BSA/AML area to be held February 27 through March 1, 2007 at The Westin Casuarina in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Over the last several years, BOL users have learned from BankersOnline and from each other. While the online environment has been a user-friendly, efficient place to gain information, many of you have expressed a desire to network with other BOL users in person. We believe now is the right time for such an event and BSA is the right subject.

There are other fine BSA/AML conferences, but our Top Gun Conference is designed to be different. We won't feature presentations by regulators about high level policy considerations and future legislation. We won't delve heavily into off-shore entities. You won't hear behind-the-scenes views about how a particular provision got adopted. Instead, you'll discover fast-paced, interactive sessions designed specifically for those who are in the BSA trenches on a daily basis, fighting to comply with the regulatory requirements and keep money launderers out of their institutions.

You'll hear directly from experienced BOL Gurus who understand the challenges you're facing. With an emphasis on nuts and bolts, you'll take away solid to-do lists and tools to help you succeed and you'll benefit from interaction with your peers who will share how they approach the various tasks.

Intensive. Practical. Hands on. Those are the hallmarks of this inaugural event. You won't want to miss it!
Warm regards,

Mary Beth Guard, Executive Editor
