Reserves on deposit with the FRB
by Mary Beth Guard and John Burnett
Guru BIOS

Question: What is the reserve percentage a bank must have on deposit with the Federal Reserve?

Answer: The reserve requirements are based on transaction account balances, and are subject to change. The current percentages are found in Regulation D, Section 205.9(a). In very general terms, for every $100 in transaction account balances added to your bank’s balance sheet, you must reserve $10.

The original version appeared in the September/October 2004 edition of the Oklahoma Bankers Association Compliance Informer.
