OFAC Remodels

OFAC has redone its Web site. Here's our quick take on what we found when we explored it:
  • All of the old content from the site appears to be intact;
  • There is more information in the Sanctions Program Summaries section on some of the countries. Unfortunately, it's still in PDF format, which makes it difficult to read on the screen, and it's not "digested" so you can easily understand. We still think the easy way to understand the country sanctions is by using our OFAC Sanctions Matrix.
    THREE HIDDEN TREASURES:
  • They've provided a sample form for use in reporting a blocking action (its use is not mandatory -- you can construct your own form, so long as you provide all the required information);
  • They've provided a sample form for use in reporting rejected transaction (its use is not mandatory -- you can construct your own form, so long as you provide all the required information);
  • They have a new email subscription service. Too early to tell how quick it will be, or how much information it will provide.
