FINALLY ABOVE the gnat line

Summer movie season starts this weekend. Thought we could have a place to discuss movies.
"The Count of Monte Cristo" was on TV this weekend - loved it- hadn't seen it in a long time. Also watched "Fireflies in the Garden" a dark drama about a dad (Willem Dafoe) who was mean. Married to mom (Julia Roberts) and their kids. I'm sure it was good, but it couldn't hold my interest.

My 9 year old saw the Pirates Band of Misfits this past weekend. I asked him how it was and he said "I've seen better" Lol.

Saw American Reunion on Saturday, and it was pretty funny!

An American in Paris was really good. I didn't think I would like it because it's a Woody Allen movie, but I was wrong.
I watched The English Patient on tv the other night,again. Awesome movie. Young Naveen Andrews is awesome too - Said from Lost.

I just watched The Departed and Boondock Saints. I got sucked into both of them, but they were definitely crazy movies!!

Not to worry, I began the conversation with a TV movie and Netflix rental. Just any old movie will do. Kid Wonder and I will have few to discuss as we are saving our money for vacation and won't be going out to the movies as much if all we discuss are theater movies. Definitely planning on the Avengers this weekend,though.

Disclaimer: I've never seen a Robert Duvall movie i didn't like, but i've recently seen "Get Low" and "A Family Thing" both for the first time and highly recommend both.

I just watched The Departed and Boondock Saints. I got sucked into both of them, but they were definitely crazy movies!! Do yourself a favor and don't see the second Boondock Saints movie, or at least don't have any sort of expectations for it! It was rather disappointing, for a lover of the first movie. We recently watched Hope and Glory, a WW2 "comedy" set in London. It was made in '87 but seemed to have been made much earlier. It was pretty funny actually. (she had to watch for a British film class) One of our favorites is One, Two, Three ('61) a post WW2 comedy about a Coca-Cola plant manager's life in Berlin. Also good is Walk, Don't Run ('64), since it's in the same vein of old comedies.
