Advice or tips for Wells Fargo teller interview?

Advice or tips for Wells Fargo teller interview? - 09/06/12 04:31 PM

My 20 year old cousin has an interview with Wells Fargo for a teller position on Monday. Apparently it's a group interview which I thought was weird.

Anyway, for anyone who does or has worked for Wells, please send me anything that could be helpful for my cousin to know before her interview.

I'm coaching her on what to wear and told her to visit their website and well practice questions, but we're looking for some insider advice wink

Thanks!

I have no practical advice except not to go. We have a few people here that are former WF staff and they have horror stories.

Tell her to find a nice credit union to apply for laugh

judging from the actions of some tellers, I am shocked that you are actually interviewed for the position still

Based upon another thread about BOA I would discourage mooning.

I don't think she's getting married.... she may have to buy a pair that say "applicant".

But that would either be hard to read or require some size...

If I was running a group interview (strange) I would look for pleasant facial expressions, smiles and eye contact as well as overall appearance.

LOL! I hate seeing them come in wearing flip flops during a job interview at a Bank. The Old Navy ones? Seriously?!

No texting during the interview. No taking phone calls either.

Just to highlight EGB - turn off the phone!

Give her a bunch of technical questions to ask them about BSA and Regs E and CC, etc. "What steps is WF taking now to insure compliance with Reg E Subpart B by February 7?" That will throw them.

I would suggest something low cut but speaking from personal experience that may backfire. I remember interviewing someone who wore something low cut and I can't remember if I made eye contact.

Wells is known for having no problem in firing staff that cannot attain unrealistic sales and referral goals. So she should let them know she is a natural at talking to people and understanding what their goals and needs are.

Yes.

I also had a relative apply with Wells Fargo. He didn't show any cleavage, but got the job anyway.

Re: Advice or tips for Wells Fargo teller interview? - 09/06/12 08:59 PM

Thanks Babo! She's still in college and I didn't think she was goin for banking but she did mention wanting to work up. I think it's great for her--she's worked food only before. She's smart though. She pulls straight a's at her university!

I told her about sales and referrals but tried to stress that she can make a bit of extra money for the teller referral pool (wamu had that when I was there....do other banks still do that?).

Re: Advice or tips for Wells Fargo teller interview? - 09/07/12 12:47 PM

It's a teller position - likely if she can talk without saying "umm" "like" and "you know", make eye contact when speaking, doesn't flip or play with her hair, and is presentable, then she'll get the lowesty paying job available in banking today...

If wf is in the sales referral business, it really wouldn't hurt for her to become familiar with their product line.

Re: Advice or tips for Wells Fargo teller interview? - 09/07/12 02:59 PM

If Wells Fargo allows customers to open accounts online, perhaps she could open a checking or savings account online and then discuss the process in some way in her interview. I agree with waldensouth, perhaps she could check their website and learn what types of products are offered and what the differences are.

Wish her luck from all of us, Dip. smile
