We have an individual borrower who has pledged a Certificate of Deposit as collateral on a loan. The Certificate is co-owned by the borrower, and two other individuals. The loan officer had only the individual Borrower sign the loan documents and the collateral documents. I agree that as an individual borrower, his is the only signature necessary on the loan documents; but shouldn’t all three co-owners of the Certificate have signed the collateral documents? Thank you.

A and B and C will require all 3 to sign the security agreement. If it's A or B or C then generally only one will need to sign the agreement, but check state law for any restrictions and any notification requirements you may have to send the other 2 owners.
