If a lender has a prequal request (no property identified) and the lender lets the consumer know he qualifies for a mortgage and to come back once a property is identified, does there need to be any other documentation in the file if the consumer does not come back in a month or so? Do lenders follow up with the consumer? Since it is not an application, there are not any requirements to send a letter out to the customer, is there? Thanks for any answers.

For a true prequal, you are letting the potential applicant know what/how much s/he can qualify for. If you let them know, but don't hear back from them...you have nothing else needed to do. No adverse action has been taken.
