I had read somewhere that the OCC was updating its old dos APY calculator to a Windows version? Did I just dream that one up?
I just checked their site and it was still the dos one.

I heard at the Alabama Bankers Compliance Conference last week that it's supposed to be out within the next month. Stay tuned.

This should be a "GUI" type change. If someone has APR problems, the formulas are not changing and the problems won't look any different when the update is released.

I know, Andy, I just don't like working with dos. It's yucky.

I agree. That is why my first computer was a GUI Mac!

As to APRs, I like the portability of Richard's APRX. The OCC program is a back up.

Actually, during one on my last bank exams, my APRX was correct while the OCC's program computed the APR incorrectly, based on preprogrammed assumptions of payment dates.

Shame on them!
Oh and Andy, I bet it felt really good to say "my last bank exam", didn't it!

Yep!

And I didn't point out that Richard's APRX does some APYs too.

Your post is titled APY, but the OCC's APR calculator is being re-tooled. Is the APY being re-done as well?

I had thought it was the APY calc that was still dos-based and dreamed about. The APR calc I have is windows based. I have a question for you Andy, did you ever look at Wheatworks APR calculator? It was a free version on the internet (to download), but I never used it.

No. I use handhelds and then the OCC programs.
