If you have more than 50 employees, you should have an Affirmative Action Plan. Part of the Plan's requirement is to use the wording "An equal opportunity employer m/f/v/d" an the end of the ad.

Bob, I know this is required, but can you give me a cite or authority for the over 50 employees thing? I'm not questioning your answer or anything, we just had this come up and I had a hard time finding anything other than the government contractor clause. Just trying to buttress an argument in case it comes back up. Thanks.

No problem. The reference is 41 CFR 60-2.2(a)(b). This portion of the Code of Federal Regulations relates to requirements in Affirmative Action Plans regarding Recruitment and Advertising. It is generally accepted practice and a standard used by the OFCCP to use either "equal opportunity employer", "equal opportunity/affirmative action employer" or equal opportunity employer m/f/v/d" in employment ads. I use the latter in all of my affirmative action plans.

I think it stands for "male, female, veteran, or disabled".

Today - like most days for me - is now a success, because I learned something new. Thanks!
