Our Bank allows the use of an unexpired Government Issued drivers license or State personal ID containing the proper information for opening accounts.

People are coming in now with personal ID issued by the Parish Sheriff's Office. These ID's have a current picture, SS# and DOB in addition to an issue and expiration date. Apparently the Sheriff's Office will issue these ID's without charge. The State charges for the personal ID's issued through the Dept. of Public Safety.

We are concerned that these ID's may not meet the apparently undefined requirements under CIP for a government issued ID.

Does anyone have any experience in using ID's like this?

Thanks in advance.

It's interesting that a parish (county for the people outside Chickapin) would feel the need to issue identification when the state already offers an ID card. A few dollars either way should not force it to act on behalf of its residents.

Your CIP defines what is acceptable. If it actually says unexpired Government Issued drivers license or State personal ID then my response would be that the parish ID is not acceptable even if you wanted to accept it.

To give the matter due consideration, I suggest you compare what the county requires to issue this ID with what the state requires for its ID. That might give you some idea how credible it is.
