Just to let everyone know that I'm retiring from banking at the end of November. Banking just ain't what it used to be and neither is this old gray compliance officer. I have to move in with my mother to be there for her and now I'll have more time to do more with my side-line (fun) job, and of course, much more time to be with the grandchildren! I'll still check in on things at BOL. Everyone here has been such a great support whenever I needed help with problems - both bank-related and personal. Have fun, y'all, cause I plan to!

Okay - you may have to teach me how to weave! I'm ready to retire - mentally - just not financially. Enjoy! I'll miss seeing you at GBA events. Please let us know where you will be traveling so we can stop by and see you occasionally.

Thanks, everyone. This has been a very emotional day. I'd been hinting that I was seriously considering retirement, but I think everyone was totally surprised when it was announced. I think a lot of them are concerned about what work of mine they will have to deal with as a new part of their duties. Things are happening in such a way that I think this must be my time to retire. I'll be setting up a web site probably after the first of the year. My brother is taking continuing ed courses at Emory University in web design and has offered to design my site for the experience. That will be a great savings for me and something for his portfolio to show future prospects. I've already started going through some of my files. Others I'll leave for them to decide what to keep and what to throw away. Oh, well. Going to an advertising auction tomorrow and then working on my side business on Sunday to get ready for Stone Mountain the first weekend in November. Have a good weekend, everyone!

Thanks, everyone! I'm looking forward to it very much.
Only 18 more working days to go (I've got a few vacation days and there are two holidays).

Congrats!
And it seems that the hardest initials to get behind your name these days are RET.!
I have no idea how most of us are going to retire after the major losses in bank stocks...

I'll be at Stone Mountain Park the first weekend in November. Then two local shows after the first of the year, and Karen (my business partner) and I have to decide what shows we're going to do (now that I'll have the time and she won't have to do them by herself).

Enjoy your retirement but don't work too hard! Make sure you get your website link posted here. There are any number of us who'd love to see or maybe even buy your work.
Don't know if I'll ever retire...nor that I really want to yet. I enjoy the interaction and working part-time keeps my mind sharp. Having a great boss means if I ever need time beyond my 1/2 day to do for the grans, I get it.

Between the planned web site and additional festivals, I should be pretty busy, but with FUN stuff!

Fortunately/unfortunately (depending on how you look at it), I am. I can't draw full benefits, but I'm not willing to wait.
You talk about your hair, mine is almost completely white! There is very little of my dark hair left and most of it is in the back.

When my brother gets through going to school on how to build them, we'll start. It will be an ecommerce site and will be small to begin with until I can get inventory built. Right now most of my inventory consists of lower priced items that we sell at our events. I'll gradually add higher end products as I find them. I try to find unusual stuff that not everone is carrying at the present time.
I'll let y'all know when it's up and going.

Thanks to all.
Going into my second career which should be a lot less stressful and a lot more fun - festivals and craft shows - as a demonstrator and vendor. We're looking to expand our events now. Hopefully, soon I'll have a web site and will post the link so that you can all visit my "store".

My husband is retiring effective Dec 18 and he can't wait. I have a huge honey do list for him to keep him busy (and to get my new kitchen and bathroom). I know once the ice is on the lakes, he'll be bringing home fish every night.
Enjoy your "fun" job and the many years to come. I have one year and ten months before I can do the same.
Take care OBG.
