Has anyone had any luck getting a written notice from VISA stating that they have policies and procedures in place to monitor and block unlawful transactions? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The best advice I've seen on this subject is to send your vendor a written request for the information. If you do not receive it by December 1, write again. Obviously, you cannot beat it out of them.

Clearly, the people who wrote the reg felt they had built in a compliance mechanism that would take minimal effort. Perhaps the vendors don't see eye to eye with the draftsmen.

There was an article in the April 22, 2009 Visa Business News. If you have problems finding it, contact your Visa Representative. Our Rep emailed a link to all of his clients.

FYI- I received an email from him last week letting us know that there will be another article in Visa News pertaining to UIEGA in November.

We have obtained information regarding compliance with UIGEA from our core processor (who is responsible for issuing debit cards to our customers). Do we also need to obtain this information from VISA, since our debit cards are branded by VISA?

FYI- Visa published an additional article on UIGEA in today's (Nov. 4th) Visa Business News under the Risk Management/Compliance section entitled "Visa Implements Policies and Procedures to address the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006".

IMO, a better article and a more detailed response to UIGEA than the April 22nd one. It does a better job spelling out what they're doing, as well as the Acquirer and Issuer roles and responsiblities.

We are keeping a printed copy along with the previous article and policy statements from both of our Card processors.

It was emailed to me. You should be able to access the articles under the news archives in VisaOnline, which requires a user name and password for access.
