Please pray for my daughter who is 6 1/2 months pregnant with her third child. She has developed a kidney stone and spent the weekend in the hospital. They gave her pain pills and sent her home last night but she cannot keep them down because of the nausea related to the pain. There is not a lot they can do as far as diagnosis or treatment since she is pregnant. So far the baby girl is fine. But she does have two very active boys to take care. My husband is spending a couple of days with her until her husband and son are out of school for the Thanksgiving holiday. Please pray that she will pass this stone quickly and get back on her feet. She is a college professor and they are heading into the last few weeks of the fall semester and this is not a good time for her to be off work. Also, please pray that this doesn't put her into early labor.

Prayers for your daughter, I can relate to the kidney stone pain and can not even imagine what she must be going through being pregnant as well.

out of the frying pan...
Kidney stones are NOT fun, and I, too, can't take the pain meds because of nausea (tho it was the meds themselves that made me sick, not the pain). Lots of warm, positive thoughts headed your daughter's way!

Thoughts and prayers going out to her as well as to you and your husband! Nothing worse to us as seeing our kids in pain and not being able to help them! I pray she is better very soon and all is well with her and that precious baby!

Lord, we pray that you will take care of this precious family as they are going through this tough time. Specifically, I pray that the kidney stone will pass quickly and easily and that all will be well with the baby. Guide the doctors and the family as they make decisions about the proper way to treat the situation. In Jesus' name, Amen!

Thanks everyone. Your caring thoughts and prayers have put me in tears.

She does seem to be a little better today with less pain but she still has the nausea. I am thinking that perhaps the medication is now what is making her nauseous.

She was to call the doctor today to update him on how she was feeling and is currently waiting for someone to call her back.

My concern is how all of this pain medication is affecting the baby although both the doctor and nurses assured me there was no risk.

I've had 2 kidney stones. Prior to taking pain killers, lying in a hot bath seemed to ease the pain. Praying for her and her child!

Heating pads, hot water bottles, and those sticky heat wraps helped me.

It's rare that narcotics will penetrate the amiotic (spelling?) sack that is the sort of biological shielf for baby. My wife slipped and dislocated her knee when she was pregnant, was prescribed some kind of narcotic and that was the answer that I got.

Thanks Bucc. That makes me feel better. Although the nurses reassured me I still worry. I guess that is part of being a mother and grandmother.

I tallked to her this morning and the nausea is pretty much gone but she is sill in severe pain. She refuses to take the pain medication because she thinks that was what causing the nausea.

She thinks she may have passed the stone. Pray that she has. I hope it hasn't just stopped moving temporarily. The movement is what causes the terrible pain.

As much as I adore nurses (wife & sister both are), I didn't believe them when they told me either wink

I just talked to my daughter and it looks like the crisis is over. She is feeling fine and had a good night's sleep. She still doesn't know if she passed the stone but the pain is gone and she is getting ready to head home for Thanksgiving. Thanks to everyone for their prayers. Never underestimate the power of prayer.

My daughter had a good weekend but last night either the original kidney stone reared its ugly head or she has another one. She said the pain has not been as bad and so far the nausea hasn't hit and she went to work today. But she is definitely not well. So if you could continue your prayers I would appreciate it.
