Hello,

When opening a government supervised account where government officials are the authorized signers able to be exempt from CIP procedures?

Thanks

Since I re-read this question - John's answer makes a whole lot more sense.

I meant to say that authorized signer's are not account holders for CIP purposes.

However, remember that your bank's CIP process may be more robust than the regulations require. You could provide in your policy and procedures for an exception to your otherwise-required ID verification process for authorized signers who are in that position in their official roles as government employees or agents. Such might be the case, for example, if you are dealing with an account set up under the FSA (Farm Service Agency).
