My dear friends,

Many of you already know my struggles with my daughter, who will be 20 in May. I've been asking alot of advice around with some of you...just really not knowing what to do. She has been sick with various things since her freshman year in High School. I've discussed in other threads that we went for 2 years not knowing what was wrong with her until we discovered she had a diseased Gallbladder and when the dr finally removed the organ, it was stuck to many of her other organs...what normally is a 30 min surgery lasted over 1 1/2 hrs. This was her first sickness.

Then late in her athletic years we started dealing with new stuff, she has in the dr's words "shattered" a disc. Well...I've had ruptured discs..had surgery and been able to move on. But whatever is going on her body is just not reasonable. All the pain seems to shift. She was in such unbelievable severe pain on New Years that she was taken to the ER twice within a few days and they admitted her to the hospital for 10 days...no clear outcome or diagnosis. We've been tested for everything...including Psychiatric treatment (which she was deemed an exceptional young lady-their words not mine ...although I must say I was certainly relieved to hear those words - just clearly in extreme pain and distress).

So, my prayer request is this. My husband and I are taking her to Kansas for some Alternative Treatment. The Dr is a friend of mine that I grew up with here and he has studied in Germany and Switzerland and people come far and wide to be treated by him. We've been to at least 15 different doctors all around this area with not a lot of real success. So I humbly ask you...my friends to please pray that she will receive healing through this route. As so many of you know...there is NOTHING in this world like seeing your child in pain and not knowing how to help. And what makes it so bad for me is not knowing really what it is that keeps her in so much pain throughout her entire back region....CONSTANTLY! So much that we had to take a medical leave from school this semester and she is hardly able to work. This is from a child that was extremely driven, carrying a full school load which believe it or not she really loves so much and working at least 4 days a week. I pray I am making the right decision for her...I've never done anything like this before...and it's a little scary.

Good luck!! You're right...the worst is not knowing why. it is so that you have a friend in the right place at the right time! If nothing else, you know that he will be honest with you...and that means so much.

KT, you and Kayla are already a permanent fixture in my daily prayers, my friend, but I will say LOTS of extras that this new doctor will be able to help!

I read something about "pain block" procedures recently - sort of like the old saddle block epidurals they (used to?) do for childbirth, but slightly different to help people with chronic pain. That might be something you want to look into or ask the doc about, also.

I pray for a doctor who is not bound by convention, but will think outside the box to determine a treatment for your daughter. I pray for strength and patience for your family as it takes time to process symptoms and come up with a plan. I also pay for pain relief for Kayla.

Prayers for relief for your daughter. I can not imagine what you are going through, but unfortunatly I do know something about what she is going through. Just support her and help her keep faith that somewhere there is an answer.

Praying for healing, guidance, comfort, and peace. God is faithful to answer our prayers. Remember Jeremiah 29:11.

Continuing prayers for Kayla and your family KT. I pray that God will give this doctor the wisdom and knowledge to cure her. And, I totally support you in your decision to seek alternative treatment.

I knwo how much pain she's been in, and the rest of you (emotionally). I really hope oen doctor or another helps her out QUICK! Good luck in Kansas!!!

BurntSienna...thanks so much for that info...there is so much stuff out there you never know what in the world is the best thing to do...do ya? We've had actually 3 blocks, 1 Intradiscal Injection, 1 Thoracic Facet Joint Injection w/botox and 1 Thoracic/Cervical Facet Joint Injection W/O Botox (can't give the botox but every 6 months) She is on countless drugs that I am just extremely concerned about at her age...or at any age really.

I know it will be ok...I am TRUSTING that it will be ok! Thanks again!
