I can't look at it. Does the Purina dog picker have the "Smooshy-faced breed" listed? Please say yes.:)

Nice try.

It's a "pet expo" not a "dog expo." smirk

But you could go and buy the kitty's some more little outfits. Do they have cupid costumes for Valentines day?

Isn't that the point?

To buy them outfits and treats and beds and all that junk?

There are a lot of resources for a lot of different types of pets there. From fun things to do with your pets to veterinary specialists. Lots of stuff to buy and rescue and other advocacy groups to talk to.

Went to Petsmart on Saturday for dog toys and walked out with a new family member. A local Humane Society was holding an adoption event.

<---- She is an Australian shepherd Corgi mix.

That is a baby that would have been hard to resist! Contrats. I am a Aussie fan and beleive anything crossed with one is bound to be a good dog. You'll have to let us know about her personality as it developes.

Harley is 8 1/2 weeks old. She was a little shy at first but is coming out of her shell. She loves the other pups and just follows them around. She mastered the doggy door within 24 hours (helps watching the older pups) even with her stubby corgi legs!

One would think that the stubby corgi legs would help with a doggie door! smile

She's cute, and from all the rescues working hard to adopt these little loves, THANK YOU!

ditto B_F's thanks and congrats on your new rescue world family member!

She is beyond cute. Aussie's are really smart and those short legs ought to put a whole new spin on it. Keep us posted on her progress. smile

Too cute! Love both those breeds, and I am laughing right now thinking about a sawed-off Aussie with Corgi attitude. She's going to be SO MUCH FUN! laugh

A retired racing greyhound...

"Hope" was 6 when I got her. Translated, that means she was very successful on the track and was used for breeding thereafter. (When they are avaialable at a younger age it suggests they were not successful as racers; the may not be fast, or they may just not be too bright.) The surroundings these animals are raised in are the equivalent of sensory deprivation in comparison to the rest of the world. Stairs, passing cars; everything was new to her. Yet, she was incredibly intelligent and adaptive; if she could figure out what you wanted she would do it.

The "adoption" people were fanatical and a wellspring of advice. They were right about some things. Totally wrong about others.

Our winters are chilly for a short haired animal raised in Florida. My daughter was into horses at the time and I found a "horse blanket" that was made for dogs her size. One of my most stirring memories of her was when she chose to pace my daughter's thoroughbred (with twice the strides) on a cross country course...inevitably, she eventually tired and stepped out of the contest, but it was truly beautiful.
