I want to try some of those slice/hook correction golf balls.
I have not used them but heard that the take away distance from good shots.(if any of us have good shots)
I did see that, however, taking 10-20 yards off a swing seems like a fine trade-off to me if it goes straight... Some golfers take something off their swing to get more control so they hit straighter, netting a better result even though the ball does not travel as far.
If I got a 300 yard hole, I'd rather be 90 yards away on the fairway then 70 yards away sitting in the rough near a tree.
Also, if you think about it, if the ball slices, it will not go further than the 20 yard less drive that when straight.
For my game, or lack there-of :), I think I'd be happy with the trade-off.
