As I work in Australia - which is different to all of you - I was interested in the difference in what we refer to as 'Annual Leave'. In my Bank, we are allowed 22 days holidays per year..and that does not include the 10 Public Holidays...or sick leave (12 days)..or long service leave.
(As I have been in the bank for 15 years, I'm eligible for Long Service Leave of 13 weeks)

Yes, I am gloating. But, how about you?

Most US banks have the same federal holidays as the Reserve Banks. In 2012, I have 10 fed holidays plus 45 PTO (paid time off days). I have been at this particular bank for 10 yrs.

Is Australia in the UK? I hate when they move an entire country and don't send a forwarding notice...

I have 15 days vacation, 8 federal holidays (we don't get President or Columbus), 1,040 hours of LTD (that would be 6 months), and 96 hours per year of sick leave...

10 holidays...the Federal ones
15 vacation days plus up to 5 additional of purchased vacation (20 once you make VP level, nto sure if we give anyone more than 20 here)
Up to 400 hours (50 days) sick time I think, and last I heard, I was in the 300-range, btu this number isnt regularly reported to you.

All full time employees get
10 Fed Holidays off with pay annually
3 paid Personal Time days annually (do not carry over)
6 paid Sick days annually (carry over to a max of 30 days)

I have 20 paid Vacation Days & have been at the credit union for 12 years. And yes I am currently counting down to taking my first vacation days of this year ; )

Awesome response guys. Looks like you (in general) dont get much leave at all?? Also looks as if they are some different definitions being used.
Looks like they are some real contrasts in terms of long service - some places give a good incentive in terms of leave, some dont.

Pale Rider - The 22 days are personal holidays, not Bank holidays.

Dottiec - 32 years?!?! Holy [censored].

At our Bank (and most other Australian Banks) we are obligated to take 10 days of leave consecutively at least once a year. This is a good way of catching possible insider-fraudsters who need to be at work to 'cover their tracks'.

Here we are only required to take 5 consecutive for the same reason. I think the two weeks I am takign this year will be the first time in over 10 years I have ever taken more than a week off at a time.
